Filter foam - PPI foams
Mixed-cell polyurethane foams are designed for applications that require completely open structures in the foam, . PANAPOR filter foams are characterized by their specifically controlled pore sizes. An important feature is the number of pores per inch. As standard, we offer our filter foams in both ether and ester varieties in 10 - 90 ppi.
Our highly elastic PUR - ether foams generally (as conventional foams and also as filter foams) have a relatively good resistance to commercially available acids and alkalis. They are more resistant to ageing and hydrolysis than PUR ester foams and are therefore popular as aquarium filters, for example. Compared to ether foams, filter foams made of PUR ester have better shock-absorbing properties. In addition, discolouration over time is lower compared to ether types.

Frequently asked questions about filter foam:
The filter foam can be very easily deformed without destroying the cell structure! The foam can be compressed up to 50%. The lower the pores per inch, the more the foam can be compressed.
Reticulated foam is more expensive than non-reticulated soft foam. This is due to the complex manufacturing process of reticulation.
PPI foam can be processed in a wide variety of ways.
